The 8th Annual Kaua’i Sings! Performance Series
Since 2007, Jason Blake and the Staff and Board of Mālama Pono Health Services (MPHS) bring you Kaua`i Sings!, an annual performance series of song and remembrance. This year you can rock to the tunes of the Beatles and more in the Fall show, British Invasion and enjoy the winter holiday season under the theme of Christmas from the Heart.
This series has raised almost $55,000 in net proceeds to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis and other life threatening sexually transmitted infections. MPHS applies the funds raised at this series toward services not covered by government or grants.
Today, an estimated 1.2 million Americans are living with HIV and 25% of them do not even know they are infected. Nationwide, a new infection occurs every ten minutes. On Kaua’i, almost 200 men and women are living with HIV. Anyone who is sexually active is at risk. There are almost 2500 people on Kaua’i are living with Hep B, Hep C or both. More than ½ of those infected don’t know it. Liver cancer will result if not caught early. Those of Asian and Pacific Island decent are most at risk of Hep B.
We hold three events annually: Spring, Fall and Christmas. The 2014 dates are TBA.
Cost: Fall and Spring tickets are the same price, $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The Christmas show is $25 in advance. Special group pricing is available for each show. We have a history of selling out and veteran audience members buy in early!
$15,000 in net proceeds and a lot of awareness- all used for testing and education to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, STDs and infectious Hepatitis on Kaua`i and to serve those infected with or affected by these diseases.
